What is Songs and Stories?

Songs and Stories is a group for young children and their carers that has been running for over 10 years. Many families within the church have attended at some time with their children or as a leader. At present we are a thriving group of, on average, 12 families meeting every Wednesday morning in the Parish Hall.

The structured session starts at 10am. We have an introduction which is mostly singing. This is followed by a combination of stories, activities and songs for the next 20 minutes. The group can then take part in a craft and/or play. There is always cake or biscuits and a nice cup of tea, with an opportunity for parents and carers to chat and catch up. For the last 15 minutes we have nursery time, notices and a formal end of the session with a prayer and blowing out of the candle. We finish at 11.30am.

Songs and Stories has two parties a year, one at Christmas and one in the summer when, if the weather is fine we have a garden party. For the past two years we have organised a Songs and Stories annual trip to Wicksteed Park.

The leaders are Katie, Rowena and Linda, supported by Jean, Tracy and Margaret.
