The MU is a Christian organisation caring for people worldwide. It is our 140 years’ anniversary this year and has been celebrated throughout 57 different countries by over 4 million people.
Wherever the Mothers’ Union exists in the world our Christian faith will be expressed in the transformation of families and communities.
This is achieved by promoting the importance of marriage, supporting families and nurturing faith, with members spreading, sensitively, the good news of a God who loves and cares for us all.
The Mothers’ Union works with people of all faiths and none. We are a firmly rooted voluntary organisation with an ethos cantered on mutual respect and collaboration.
Here in the Peterborough Diocese, with the members, we seek to help people where needed. Our own branch here at Ss Peter & Paul with St Michael and All Angels is active, raising funds for Mothers’ Union projects, attending quiet days and evenings, attending monthly meetings. Last year we contributed to the Away From It All Holidays, sometimes giving families in need a holiday for the first time in years, a time away from the everyday, a time spent together enjoying each other’s company. We have a diocesan prayer chain where members agree to pray for 3 weeks for people from all walks of life who are in need and often we are told that people have felt upheld and benefitted from our prayers. This is just a sample of what we do. New members are always welcome.
